News- Good and Sad

We were re-submitted to PGN on Friday, March 16th! Great news! Now begins another round of waiting...

Bella also took her first steps on Friday. She was cruising around the bed, laughing and playing with me when suddenly she turned, let go, and took two steps toward me! She stumbled almost right away, of course, but it was SO GREAT to be here and see it! Each day she gets stronger and more sure of herself. I had hoped she would hold out on walking at least until Gamma got here in April, but it doesn't look like that will happen. Sorry Gamma!

Unfortunately, Friday March 16th was also a sad day for us as well. We had to say good-bye to our sweet dog Cally who was recently diagnosed with advanced cancer in her stomach and intestines. Cally was 10 years old and had a great personality. She was the only one of our dogs that would genuinely talk back to us or "sass" us, stomping her feet all the while. Hilarious. She was a good friend, a great snuggler, and dearly loved. She will be missed.

For those of you who don't know, our cat Blarney has been missing for a week and a half now as well. We've also had to euthanize two other dogs since I've been in Guatemala. Out of the five animals in the Freeman zoo, only one remains. We could all (Greg, Irene, and I) use some special prayers to heal the heartbreak these losses have caused. It's a very quiet house these days.
